Dumitru, named head coach soon after the
close of the 2002/03 season, led Chiefs
to their first PSL title and their first
league title in 12 years. He replaced stand-in
coaches Doctor Khumalo and Ace Khuse who
had been at the helm since November 13 2002
when Muhsin Ertugral was officially declared
'on holiday'. Head coach since the 99/00
season, Ertugral was finally released from
his contract on January 7 2003, joining
Santos just two days later.
Khumalo and Khuse revert to their previous
roles as assistant coaches.
This is Dumitru's second spell with Amakhosi
having last coached the side in 1986-87
when he won several competitions.
